Quoting the Constitution is not going to get the firefighter his job back...
I'm quoting it. But an attorney would be citing it in court.

But the firing was a violation of the Bill of Rights? Sorry, that's too bad. :(
No. It's not "too bad." It's legally and constitutionally actionable.

You better have at LEAST a million dollars and several years to see your case through all of the lower courts up to the Supremes. And you still might not get your job back... :D
MOST Civil Rights cases are taken by attorneys on contingency. Happens ALL the time. You don't need a million dollars. You don't even need one dollar. You just need a good clear case.

I'm talking liability insurance and companies lowering their "risk" by specifically forbidding employees to be armed or have arms in their cars.
Yes... I am also talking about liability insurance. There is NOTHING about firearms being allowed on property. There is no such stipulation in those liability policies. NONE. Promise. It's a bullshit argument based on the fact that most people know nothing about it and won't do any investigation to vet that claim themselves. They'll just accept it, because it sounds "rational."

A while back, I was thinking of getting a FFL at my shop which is zoned Commercial. The yearly difference in the liability policy was $1200 more a year to be a gun dealer. So that is having to make an extra $100/month just to cover insurance costs.
Liability insurance premiums vary quite a bit depending on the type of business and the related risks assessed by actuarial data. It's not that it's guns vs no guns. It's a SPECTRUM of risks associated with a SPECTRUM of business types. Similarly, a jewelry store will likely pay higher premiums than a toy store. A racing school or skydiving school will pay higher premiums than an art school.

I calling you out on this one... ;)
I don't imagine lawyers will be tripping over each other to get a "civil rights" case to represent a straight white guy...

It's the only thing they're good at... 🙄

Ya know, in WW2, a sub that had gone missing this long was listed as "Overdue and presumed lost".
Anyone else wondering if Mitch still has a pulse and his staff is holding out for some reason?

Here's what is just stunning to me, as an American. I'm NOT AT ALL surprised that tyrannical politicians do this. The most disappointing thing is that the CITIZENS CAVE TO IT. They DO have a choice. They can simply say NO. But they don't. They comply like mindless lemmings. Even worse than just compliance... they ACTIVELY engage as accessories to the crime by attacking anyone else who doesn't comply.

If I was in NY, I'd turn my a/c down to 65 and wear a sweater in the house just to spite the tyrants and their minions.

“Yellow Dog Democrats”, will vote for anyone with a D after their name. They still believe the myth that it is the party of the working class. I blame the media for spreading the false information and outright lies about conservatives. Calling riots mostly peaceful protests” with a building burning in the background. It sickens me to see how they have divided us.

They haven't divided us. They've divided themselves.

I had a supervisor years ago that was old school Southern. His granddaddy voted D, his daddy voted D, and he always voted D.
No amount of supporting evidence could sway him. He always fell back on the mantra he was taught..."The Democrats are for the working people, and the Republicans are for big business." It was that ingrained.
He literally was one of those that if the devil ran for Prez as a D, he would vote for him.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of those. As of late, I’d say that is 45% and the moderates/swing voters have determined the president. Yes, they literally could have the Devil running for president with the threat of them going to hell if they voted for him and they’d still do it.

I dunno, I had an old friend that when we got together he would constantly complain about the wealthy, Trump supporters in particular. I really got tired of listening to it. I mostly listened and didn’t add much to the conversation. I could tell that anything I said would just start an argument so I kept my mouth shut. My wife quit following his wife on FB due to her hateful comments about the president. They were good people but their TDS was terminal. We stopped keeping in touch with them after a while and then a couple of months ago I learned my friend passed away. He had multiple health problems due to his exposure to agent orange back in the sixties. I guess I should’ve kept in touch but the toxic rhetoric was more than I could deal with at the time.

I haven't cut anyone off for TDS or any other political reason. But they've cut me off. I don't see that as "division." THEY have CHOSEN to cut ME off for those reasons, not me. If anything, it's evolution, not division.

My rule, though, is that if they cut me off, there's no going back. Ever. Perhaps if they came back CONTRITE and willing to admit they were WRONG, I'd consider it. But if they come back trying to pretend nothing happened... FUCK THEM. Again... evolution, not division.

So far, not one has ever come back and said, "I was wrong. I should not have cut you off." And I won't hold my breath waiting for it to happen, either.
