The requested work thread...

My dot's BF works at a Hunday dealer. Roadtesting a 2024 sedan (whatever the model was) a couple weeks ago, he is in the left lane of two lanes doing about 40mph and someone pulls out from the right driveway and slams into his right side, flipping the car! Car was totaled but the air bags My Pillowed his body and he walked away with only minor bruising from the seat belt. 🥹 At the hospital everything checked out fine (CTs, MRIs). Totally the other driver's fault which they admitted. I suppose the car owner will get an even NEWer car out of the deal... :)
Did they send him to the urgent care or drug test center first? At my shop anybody needing care for an accident or work related injury gets a drug test, then first aid.

One of the guys recently twisted his ankle stepping out a car and getting tangled up on the rack arm. He had to pee in a bottle while standing on one foot.

That’s just sad.

I'm reminded of a song by my favorite group, Rush.... "Red Barchetta." Brilliant song! And perhaps prophetic???

About a Ferrari... my favorite marque.

My uncle has a country place
That no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm
Before the Motor Law

And on Sundays I elude the eyes
And hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the Wire
Where my white-haired uncle waits

Jump to the ground
As the Turbo slows to cross the borderline
Run like the wind
As excitement shivers up and down my spine

Down in his barn
My uncle preserved for me an old machine
For fifty odd years
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream

I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better vanished time

I fire up the willing engine
Responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel
I commit my weekly crime

Wind
In my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical music
Adrenaline surge

Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware

Suddenly ahead of me
Across the mountainside
A gleaming alloy air car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide

I spin around with shrieking tires
To run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase

Drive like the wind
Straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud with fear and hope
I've got a desperate plan

At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside
Race back to the farm
To dream with my uncle at the fireside

The myth and the truth:

Myth: He is a master at improvising
Reality: The guy you see hopelessly broken down on the freeway at 2:30am.

So I was helping a friend replace the transmission in his RAM truck tonight. When it was time to lower the old trans out, it fell resulting in me being brought to ER. The trans landed on my hand resulting in a clear hole straight through. We were able to see the muscle and bright white tendons between my fingers. This is why I don’t like doing side work. Even after ER, we still got it done though. lol
