My son (a US Marine) came home today after being deployed. He was telling me that his close friends from high school have all done well. He went down the short list of friends and what they were doing. Then he got to one he said is in a successful rock band. "You probably haven't heard of them... Ace Monroe."

Ummm.... not only have I heard of them, but I'm also subscribed to their channel on YouTube! I forget if I found them in my feed or if I was turned on to them by someone else, but it was a few years ago.

I liked them, because they were young and a sign that "Rock is not dead!" My son's friend is the rhythm guitarist.

While I've heard of Godsmack, I don't really know them or their music. And... WOW. That was great. My first time seeing this, which is apparently a staple of their concerts.

While not predominantly "music", this interview is a rare example of quality content from Terry Gross and her program "Fresh Air" on NPR. Normally the person, show and network are quite liberally biased but occasionally a gem slips out.

The interview is of Flea, bassist for the RHCP, who has a new jazz album out. After that piece, Nick Offerman is interviewed by Tonya Mosley. Both interviews are worth listening to IMO. LINK
