Ran across this on Mas Defense’ website. The kit is going for $234. Has anybody worked on one of these?

In before FrankenGlock.

I'm not a big fan of swappable FCU's as a selling point. Especially when you can buy multiple completed frames that are perfect for the same price. I'm also not a fan of the aesthetics of the G80.

Yeah... I feel the same. Similarly, I'm not a fan of converting calibers in Glocks with barrel swaps. I was never a fan of the all-in-one scanner / printer / copier machines, either.

I like dedicated machines / guns / things. I don't like "convertibles."

Yes, I get it, to each his own. I was just curious as to if anyone has built one and do they function? Any particular issues? There hasn’t been any discussion on them, that I remember.

I had never heard of them until now. Kinda funky how the FCU integrates visibly on the outside of the frame with those big cut-outs / slots.

Probably functions just like any other Glock but no first hand experience. Looks very similar to the ZEV FCU but without the front rails.

It's something to build....

New skill set to develop.

3D printable frames that don't need to be serialized.

I missed getting the aluminum jig when it was on sale, but did pick up the improved polymer jig and an FCU. I haven't worked on it yet. I have done a few of the P320 mups, so I have gotten into the FCU concept a bit. The P320 exchanges can get you through compact to full size changes. Not sure if the G80 "compact" will eventually work in a full size. I guess it'd be up to having a grip module that was sized as such? I got one for the heck of it just to try out. Will keep you posted when I get to it. I haven't found any build videos on it. We didn't all get into the hobby just to save money, but yeah I get it. I can get a serialized complete SCT lower for $90 and under usually at a LGS, so the G80 is more about the journey (and to piss off a liberal, LOL).
