The headline is misleading and does not match what actually happened. This is a CONSISTENT trend. It implies that 3D printing and / or home manufacture of personal firearms is illegal / criminal or at the very least suspicious.

www.bnd.com/news/local/crime/article316112577.html

Here's what he was actually convicted of... Nothing to do with 3D printing.

He was found guilty of failing to satisfy federal registration and taxation requirements before manufacturing or possessing two short-barreled rifles, a shotgun and silencers subject to those rules, as well as for possessing an imported shotgun with an obliterated serial number.

But the majority of the article was about "👻guns." :poop:

Here's a link without a paywall.

80 lbs of aluminum shavings 🤣

That's a lot of lowers.
I guess if you're ordering "oil filters" from China you should be more careful.

I suspect he was selling / dealing guns illegally. Nothing about that in the reported conviction.

But the article uses it as an opportunity to impugn the concept of PMFs.

Yes, I imagine he was. Only 1 photo of a firearm.
3 printers, a ghost gunner, jigs and 80 lbs of aluminum shavings.

If he still had half the firearms he produced, you can bet they would have had pics of a table full of 👻guns.
Either he was selling them or he had terrible boating accident recently.
