"Official" Thread Iran is lit - USA / Israel strike Iran 2/28/2026

Not sure on the F4's, but we shredded all but a few F14's that went to museums to prevent Iran from getting spares to keep the 79 F14A's we sold them under the Shah from being able to fly. By now, they are cannibalizing most of those to keep a few in the air.
Yeah because some idiot didn't just say "NO F-14 parts sales"

The could have moved them all somewhere secure like Area51 or my backyard. Or just shot people wrenching on the F-14's at Davis-Monihan.

Yeah, the risk of parts getting sold on the black market was real. It was running joke that if you attempted to buy a specific rubber seal from a company, you would get contacted by the FBI... since the part was made specifically for the Tomcat and no other aircraft uses it. The talk was always that the Iranians tried to reverse engineer most of the parts with the help of the Russians and Chinese. It would be fun to see what they actually did.

Even today if you wanted to build a copy of the F-14 flight management computer you can't do it. The IC's used to make it are simply no longer made and were specific to it. It was secret from the time it was designed, tested using an F8 Crusader, and put into the Tomcat. If you want one to play with, you have to make an emulator on your own.
We had a lot of secret stuff on the F-14's and S-3's where when we had the covers off the equipment no one else was allowed in the shop. If the Admiral on Captain or god forbid, an LT 🤣 came into the shop we scrambled to cover the equipment.

I'd worked on both the F-14 and the S-3 but most of the rest of my guys had only worked on the S-3, and none of the F-14 peeps had worked on S-3's so we even had to keep the S-3 stuff hidden from the F-14 people, and the other way around.

Oh, I don't know about that - the F14 AN/APG-71 radar along with the AIM-54 Phoenix missle were capable of targeting and destroying at 230 miles from one F-14D or 460 with two F-14D's when they were datalinked.

I cannot remember the distance they could target and engage with the earlier AN/AWG9 radar, but it was still a long distance.

All we needed was a Department of War and a President who was willing to take advantage of the capabilities.
As far as the missiles.... they only got 274 of them and used them up years ago. They had to reverse engineer a missile on their own, the Fakour-90. is it any good? Who knows. There performance is pretty doubtful considering how crappy there other stuff works. I believe the rocket motors they are using have been cobbled together from dubiously acquired Hawk missiles.... ok, yeah, we did export a shit-ton of those over the years. Bad on us.

Meanwhile, nobody can make a copy of the MP944 CADC that controlled the wing sweep, glove vanes, and flaps that allowed to F-14 to get into the air. There is possibly only one still in existence outside of Iran, in the hands of it's designer, Ray Holt. You can't fly without one. And you can't launch a Phoenix without one, since it give the missile the basic guidance information it needed to separate from the aircraft and get oriented in the right direction.

Similar problems exist for the engines and other electronics. The official replacement parts simply do not exist. That's why I would love to see how they solved these challenges over the years. I know they did it out of pure spite. But that leaves a lot of questions about just how capable the aircraft are in their current state of back-shed boggery. Better they end up as craters in the tarmac.

On a different note, anyone care to speculate on Reza Pahlavi's chances at leading a post-islamic Iran?

Personally, I'm getting good vibes on him as a person. A U.S. trained fighter pilot who has been trying to overthrow the islamists since he went into exile along with the rest of his family.

We could always send in Maverick and Goose's son... šŸ˜‹

Been watching Tousi for about a year now. Pretty based guy, brings the receipts, and is typically putting stuff out well before it is picked up by the rest. Maybe I will live long enough to have a pint in his yet to be built british pub in Tehran ;)

Meanwhile.... good riddance to another ayatollah. I can't believe anybody else will want the job... the new "supreme leader" must have drawn the short straw, or the only one who didn't wind up dead in the first wave of strikes. Ahem, sometimes it is good to be late to the meeting.

Tousi definitely releases a lot more images and videos of actual events, rather than the limited, canned USA & western propaganda talking points. And in particularly lately, Tousi has been the best source for most info about what's happening in the M. East. He's grown viewership with this Iran fracas. I pretty much go elsewhere now outside the USA to see what is happening both here and abroad.

Then, it becomes obvious how much news is limited prohibited for release to the plebs here by ANY USA based media source including "new media" on social networks. At best you'll find a few places stateside that cut and pastes X (Twitter) videos and call it reporting news by typing two sentences. But Tousi adds more perspective to some of those X links by telling you the context and why they appear in his videos.

There's lots of tunnels in Iran and this conflict could be similar to Gaza in ways. If Iran's military scurries into the tunnels and don't fold, it will require boots on the ground to root them out. There's probably lots of arms in those tunnels, so dis-armed Iranian citizens would have a hard time trying to root them out, by "taking over the government". You would probably not want to be the first people to storm those tunnels unarmed.

To avoid U.S. boots on the ground, let's hope the initial agreement with Israel is that the USA brings the slack and heavy air and heat at the start and the IDF is required to sniff out the ragheads in the tunnels. Perhaps air drop arms and ammo to citizens if necessary. Seems like there would be some organized method to arm citizens if necessary unless the IDF is gonna occupy. Not really interested in Israel occupying Iran in lieu of citizens running the show. That never turns out good with the Jews running rough-shod. And certainly don't want the USA to occupy.

People online have wondered why Iran started shooting at somewhat friendly countries lobbing bombs at hotels and apartments. Well, it's to draw this war out larger. They want the shit to hit the fan in a large way. It's their stated long-term goal to motivate all the other ragheads around the world. And chucking bombs all around the Middle East will certainly start that. People over there aren't gonna think too hard about why, or how a bomb landed in their backyard. It's a powder keg over there. They're just just gonna fight like they have been doing for centuries. So, the Iranians chucking bombs around is maybe to get a nuke tossed by some party. Perhaps by Pakistan. Escalation is easy to kick off with something like this happening below with the Marines popping off Pakis.

Pretty stupid firing guns at a U.S. Embassy with marines and Trump in office. It ain't Hillary & Obama giving stand down orders. Plenty of people shot in this video. Looks to be about 5-8 people hit in arms, torso and face.

This video may get tossed below. It is already blocked for embedding and that's the typical first step for it disappearing totally. So, I've attached a few screen grabs below if that happens. All the thumbnails or the enlarged straight text below should link to the video as long as it remains live.

Several people have been killed at protests outside the US consulate in Karachi. US and Iranian institutions around the globe have been attacked in the wake of US and Israel airstrikes on Iran.
At least nine people have reportedly been killed in clashes outside the US consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, as angry crowds smashed windows, and law enforcement used batons and tear gas to disperse them, officials said.

Some 25 individuals are said to have been injured, several of them critically.

A large crowd of Shiite Muslims gathered below a high wall in Skardu, Pakistan, mountains are seen in the near distance

The US Embassy in Islamabad says it is monitoring protests in several cities across Pakistan as thousands of pro-Iran demonstrators protest the killing of Iranian religious leader Ali Khamenei

In related news, Hillary Clinton made a statement that an "anti-Islam Youtube video" is the cause of the killings at the U.S. Embassy.

So, no Americans were hurt / killed, right? That's all that matters.

But they need to get out of there.

Masks covering their faces? That looks so familiar. Where have I seen protesters doing that lately?

Racer,
If you don't want that blood and gore on your site, I (or you) can remove it.

Personally, I think a lot more images similar to this and worse should be shown online so that people see an unvarnished truth about life rather than sitting comfortably in safety in front of their computers. Maybe folks will not be as complacent over many years to let bad situations snowball. It was the only reason I used to go to "LiveLeak.com" for certain news stories before they took the site down.

I'm not a pacifist or anything like that but I'm also looking to the future. So what good does a war with Iran do for us? Is Trumpy trying to lose the mid-terms for the Rs? Is he trying to spike fuel prices? Or unleash the terror cells already in the US? šŸ¤”

Yeah, blahblahblah, "state-sponsor of terrorism", whatever. I'm just being pragmatic here. Me thinks we don't need another drawn out Iraq war on our hands and the billions that will cost...

The US should secure the Strait of Hormuz to allow shipping to resume (especially of oil) and definitely NOT commit to troops on the ground. Let the sand nuggets (including Israel) fight it out amongst themselves...

This is why there is ample space and justification for a 12 ga belt fed machine gun.
This isn't Ofuckface or Biden, you come looking for it, you get it.

It doesn't need to be drawn out, nor will it be. We just need to WIPE them out to where they can't even load a slingshot. The key is the WILL to do it. And I think with the current leadership... for the first time in a LONG time... we have the actual WILL to do it. Not half-ass... all the way. Wipe. Them. OUT. Be DONE with them. Leave NOTHING for them to rebuild militarily.

We could have won Vietnam and Korea if we'd have had this leadership.

And we could have rescued the hostages.

I agree with this concept but who will be Iran's protectorate? It will have to be a Shia Muslim country and certainly not the US or Israel.

I think the first order of biz should be to get the Strait open and the oil out. I nominate Saudi Arabia to take control since they have probably the biggest presence in the Gulf. They are mostly Sunni so that might lead to strife with other muzzy nations in the area. Maybe hand them the Iranian tankers full of oil for reparations? :D

What happens if China and Russia enter the fray? China will be feeling the pinch soon as they were one of the largest buyers of Iranian oil. I'm not sure all the powers that be have figured this out yet...

It would be convenient to take out the Houthi and Somali rebels/pirates at this time. Whats another few thousand bombs and missiles at this point? The Saudis could help with this and maybe help open up the Red Sea and Suez Canal to shipping again.

My prediction: Neither will enter the fray.

Here's why: Because they'd be out of their league just like Iran is. In both Venezuela and Iran, we were able to SHUT DOWN ALL of their CHINESE and RUSSIAN air defense systems. Literally turned them off, leaving them BLIND to what was coming (us).

They can't beat us. They can't even compete with us, and that has become not only evident to them... but public knowledge worldwide. Our military prowess in terms of force, intelligence, and technology DWARFS theirs. I've long contended that both China and Russia are paper tigers. And recent events have pulled that mask off quite publicly for the entire world to see.

Put more bluntly... their shit doesn't work. They are weak. They are VULNERABLE, and it would be a suicide mission to fuck with the USA. We are not just an overwhelmingly superior force... we now have the LEADERSHIP that isn't fucking around and are NOT afraid to use overwhelming and devastating force.

Which is also why chyner won't invade Tiawan.
Now a case could be made why the Russians might be pissing down both legs right now.

Also consider that Russia has had it's hands FULL for FIVE years with puny Ukraine! They claimed they'd roll through Ukraine in a couple of days. Yet... here we are.
