Actually the article shows a younger lad helping him but I suppose he is the main soldier of his army.

When (and if) I retire I will not be sitting in a chair holding a sign or other sedentary activity. I want to be in motion when I die... ;)

My local Sheriff has bi-weekly? public CompStat meetings where crime statistics are discussed. I couldn't find any info on the next meeting but I might make it a point to attend. Which will require a call to the office which is closed at the moment. :rolleyes:

I would have 3 questions for the Sheriff:
(1) "When do you plan on taking the Flock cameras down?" :D
(2) "Could the dept. start actively ticketing motorists for not using their turn signals?" :rolleyes:
(3) "Could the dept. start actively ticketing and impounding vehicles with "gunshot" tunes?" 😠

#3 is possible because FL does not have a vehicle inspection/emissions law. So any IDIOT can cut off their catalysts and weld in a straight pipe, get a "tune" and start making noise! 😠 While not specifically violating FL law, cutting cats off DOES violate Federal law...

To elaborate on the tune, it programs the fuel injectors to dump excess fuel on decel, which then ignites on its way out of the exhaust resulting in a backfire or several that sound very much like gunshots. :eek: There are fucking asshole idiots that drive around speeding up then slowing down just to get the car to backfire. :mad: And I'm not some old grumpy old man wanting to limit the "fun" of youth, I'm a concerned citizen that cherishes as much solitude as possible and feels the stupid need to be punished (or more :devilish: ) for their ignorance... (rant over ;) )

If he says he's not taking them down, ask if he's going to add Signal Trace. And if Video Mode is enabled. Video would be more important if there are cameras at locations where there are people not cars. If he says the cameras can only take license plate photos, refer to the Flock memo in post #209.

Not to "thread drift," but when I had my Subaru STI engine rebuilt, we installed a performance "turbo-back" exhaust and removed ALL THREE catalytic converters. No so-called "gunshot tune." I've never heard that term before. But I understand your description. But, yeah... none of that shit. No "pop-off" valve, either. I hate that sound. But I do love the sound of a proper exhaust (with no cats!) on a boxer engine.

Back on topic... It's been interesting to see a LOT of articles about Flock camera resistance. It's going to get very interesting to see who wins... a small segment of revolutionaries acting in defense of Constitutional Rights? Or a MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR company that is WELL-integrated with the liberal / tyrannical side of government?

Tim Burchett (R-TN) is taking up the torch. Not holding my breathe on this one, but it is a promising developement.

He introduced H.R. 9800 – the Protection Against Mass Surveillance Act, which would ban federal agencies from purchasing, accessing, or contracting for ALPR systems, and he specifically called out Flock Safety in his announcement.

There are a few others in Congress leaning in the right direction.

Why should it be limited to FEDERAL agencies? Does the Constitution not apply at state and municipal levels????
 
Well, they are not "migratory waterfowl", so you don't have to use steel shot. ;)

That old duck blind can also serve as a Flock blind. :unsure:

Two counties over from me.
A week or so ago, two municipal officers in the same county were fired. Now it's two Sherrif's Depuies.

The Sherrif saying the quiet part out loud...
“They misused equipment that we have here that really violates people rights,” 🙄

Rogers, AR is a city with a population of 75K.
This audit shows that Rogers is running both Flock and Axon ALPR.
So, for the first 6 months of 2026 they had zero false positives on over 26M scans? 🙄 That's not the error rate other sources are citing. :poop:
And out of all those scans, only about 9000 triggered an alert. That's roughly .35%
And out of that, only 8 resulted in an arrest. :oops: And another 31 with either no arrest or pending an arrest. (no breakdown)
If we are generous and say that had 40 actionable results out of 9000 alerts, and there were no false positives, what happened to the other 8960 cars that triggered an alert? 😵‍💫

It looks like Rogers operates about 33 ALPR cameras. At approximately $3K ea., That's about $100K per year in round numbers.
I don't know about you. But the ROI doesn't seem like the juice is worth the squeeze, does it? :unsure:

While the camera might only take a picture, the software that analyzes the picture seems to be able to do much more than we were told...
So, now they have created "guilt by proximity". :mad:
