Article Link! America is already locking up toothpaste, and the mass layoffs have barely started

Many of the commenters noticed it, too. Written by AI?
Just remember those boxes on top are the weak spot... 🎯 :devilish:

They can put toothpaste, toilet paper and Beenie Weenie in a locked cabinet. I dont give a fuck. I order everything online and have it delivered locally or shipped from wherever. Literally everything. I never go 'shopping' in the traditional manner. I can but don't want to. It's a waste of my time. My meat comes from a ranch in Idaho to my front porch once a month.

On the broader side of this... the megatrends... it's spot on. Those who don't know how to make or fix something, or have skilled trade, you are in deep shit pretty soon. There isn't going to be a "social safety net". Paraphrasing Judge Smayles (Caddyshack) even the lumberyard won't hire you. And ditch diggers will be robots.

On the drum reddit groups, it's a regular thing to see someone post a question about a loose part on a kick drum pedal, and they literally don't know how to tighten a screw. A loose screw in plain view in the photo they post. No shit.

I believe it.

Bunch of RSOs standing around looking at a guest's rifle last Sunday (Public Day). They've been standing around like 5 minutes. My curiosity finally got the better of me so I went over and took a look. Brand new gun came with a trigger lock like in the stock photo below, guy forgot the key. Someone had a multi-tool with needle-nose and I said "gimme that!". Had the lock off in like 10 seconds. Took the points on the needle-nose and stuck them in the holes in the "screw" and spun the screw out--easy-peasy...

My guess is that the "shooter" brought the gun to the range in the original manufacturer's cardboard box. Tell me I'm wrong! 😏

I belong to a small, members only shooting club that has a very basic pistol range, 100 yard rifle range and a poor mans clay shooting area. All outdoor. I saw a member show up with his pistol in the front pocket of his cargo shorts. No holster. He walks up to the firing line, pulls the gun out of his pocket and starts shooting. He was shooting at our Texas star target and hit none of the discs. Not one. It's ten yards from the firing line.

I'm pretty sure he has no idea how the gun works and basic field stripping is a challenge. I watched him carefully to make sure he wasn't flagging me when reloading.

I shit can all factory locks as soon as I get the gun home. Straight into the recycle bin.

I try not to be too critical of people like this no matter how obvious the solution is. I can’t count how many times I have searched for my reading glasses then come to find them in my pocket or on my head. How many times I stop to go get a tool and then come back with something else, or walk into a room and forget what I went in there for. For me it’s mostly part of the aging process so I feel a little sympathy for these folks because it’s just going to get worse. If I can’t figure out the problem I give it a rest and do something else for a while (sometimes days). Eventually I get ‘er done.

No, no, no. This isn't forgetfulness or absentmindedness. MANY people today, literally don't know how to turn a screw with a screwdriver. They've never done it. They don't know what "righty-tighty / lefty-loosey" means. No exaggeration. They don't know how to use a wrench or a screwdriver. And more often than not, it's young people.

When someone points out... "Tighten that screw," the original poster replies, "How do I do that?"

It still had the loose tag on the trigger. :) I think there was a box involved. ;) As, RSO, my goal on Public Day is to get the shooters shooting, especially noobs--one learns (safely) by doing. I don't even remember what kind of gun it was--I think an import cheapie .22 rifle? I did what I had to do then went back to my "area", the 7yd and 15yd ranges of the Pistol Range. The "rifle" side of the Pistol Range is 25yds and 50yds.

At my local public range, people show up frequently with a rifle in a box, and a scope in another box... asking the RSOs to help them mount it. Or they show up with the scope on the rifle and have NO IDEA that it needs to be zeroed... or what that even means. It's not unusual for them to show up with rifle / scope and just start shooting... often putting rounds into the baffles or parts unknown.... nothing on target. Absolutely clueless AND DANGEROUS.

Where I shoot indoors, the RSOs are rather strict. As they should be ... it being a public range with rentals and a gun shop. You get a lot of newbs and goofballs with no experience or training. My club has only 150 members and it's private. Only about 50 members are active/shooting regularly. There are no safety officers unless there's a match organized by the board members, some of whom are NRA certified. I have been asked to officiate matches and declined. I go there during the week when the place is deserted. It's often busy on the weekends. I do some pistol shooting off the draw. Mostly into the six plate row or Texas star, which as some may know starts spinning after you hit the first plate. I also like the 100 yard rifle range for getting my long guns and optics dialed in.

What does this have to do with locked up toothpaste? Some of the members have no teeth. Too much Mountain Dew when they were kids.

I know of quite a few people with age on them, and I often wonder how they have made it this far in life. Literally helpless, and need someone else to do nearly everything for them.

If they have no teeth, why do they need toothpaste?😁

I like Mtn Dew, still have most all my teeth. Been drinking the Zero version lately.

Four out of five dentists don't recommend Mountain Dew for patients who drink soda.

Mountain Dew is the worst type of soda that you can drink. Dentists stated that this beverage causes the teeth to decay at an astonishing rate. In fact, soda can be just as damaging to the teeth as meth. The sugar content is the main factor that makes Mountain Dew worse than other sodas. One serving of “The Dew” has 11 teaspoons of sugar. One serving of Coca Cola only has 9 grams of sugar, which is a lot. Mountain Dew also has a lot of citric acid in it, which will soften tooth enamel.

I once enjoyed it but in recent years, I have given up all soda. Don't drink it at all. Any brand. Not even the sugar free.
