What ya listening to?

I just listened-to this yesterday, and her rendition of 'Limelight' as well, (superbly) done with another guy who played drums and sang, sounding very much like Geddy's voice, (The closest I've ever heard) into a Digital Audio Workstation.. Her covering Alex's solo in Limelight was spot-on. just incredible.

Yesssssssssss. Nina D and Brody did a stellar job.

If I had to pick ONE solo by any of my favorite guitarists, it would be LIMELIGHT. Such a haunting, mournful, and fitting solo for the subject matter of the lyrics. Masterfully done, and the tones and production to this day are unmatched.

I'm impressed enough with people who can play ONE instrument. Playing multiple instruments not just competently, but very well... even more impressive!

They did a pretty good job. Covering Rush is extremely difficult.

The term for that is "virtuoso".

Hmmm... to me virtuoso is most often with one instrument that is truly mastered. The highest level of mastery, which is unconscious competence.

Correct. But it can also mean mastery of multiple instruments.

Different types of virtuosos

Virtuosos can be categorized into different types based on instruments, styles, and skills. A virtuoso can also stand out in more than one discipline. For example, they may master more than one instrument or be exceptionally skilled in both playing and singing.

.... and this one time, at band camp ....
A classic line that will live on!

Virtuoso? I thought that was the dishwasher version of this.

Ever since I was kid.... old people trying to be hip always annoyed me. :)

I guarantee that butch, hip hoppin' grandma in person is a total nut job.

Speaking of old people... I still can't stand them even though I am becoming one. :)

Most of my elementary school teachers were nuns. All of them were older. Still wearing the penguin habits. In high school, teachers were Jesuit priests and a few Franciscan brothers. They made no effort to 'relate' to the kids like the hippie public high school teachers. All boys in HS. The all girls school was down the street.

We moved when I was a young teen and I had to attend a public school for a short while. Talk about a major WTF.
