What does "relieved of duties" mean? Reassigned (keeps her job)? Or fired?

If they have friends high enough up, they will be back in their former pay grade after the dust settles. What does "relieved of duties" mean? Reassigned (keeps her job)? Or fired?
She should be fired.
I wonder how long it will take for her to be promoted? That’s what usually happens in cases like this. They get their hands slapped publicly then bumped up the ladder when the heat dies down. Remember Hillary? She got fined a minuscule amount for her actions in the Russia, Russia scandal.
It would be good to see them assigned to security at public schools armed with a ball bat. That is what they advised the teachers where I once worked to have.
