SCT frames? Any opinions?

I've about decided to try out the SCT populated frames.
I looked up their web site and they talk a good line.

Then I looked up the reviews and there was one where
the OP said the beaver tail on these was too narrow. As
a consequence he got the top web of his hand bit by
the slide cycling.

Like I said in the first paragraph it will be a populated
and serialized frame with a 40 S&W slide assembly.
I "think" by using their parts that will minimize injecting
any function errors on my part.

I wondered if any of you had used the SCT for a 19/23
build and what you thought about them.

Thanks for the link. Now I have to look at the
parts I have and see if I want to try the Combat
Armory route.
 
Yeah, make sure to let us know how it goes. Also, the Glock store is selling the G20/21SF for $75 plus shipping. If I didn’t already have so many, I would by 10 more. You can build a really nice 20/21 for not much more than a Hi-Point. Get the slide and barrel from Arm or Ally and piecemeal the rest. Highly recommend going with the Gen 5 triggger housing for the 9 mm or even 10/45. It fits all except the subcompact or narrow models.

Arm or Ally slides work well. It is in one of my smoother G17 builds. Interestingly, it was my first build too! It runs like a champ and has done so out of the gate. I don't think I've had a single failure at all with it. I bought the duty slide before they added ports and it has a DLC finish. Plain jane, but works. Thanks for the Glock store info. They have a G43 frame for $43 if anybody is interested.

For the most part, their products are a really, really, really great value. I did have some issues with their G21 slides but was able to resolve by removing material. That's not unusual on the 20/21 if you mix and match parts. It's important to buy their barrels on the 20/21, if you buy their slides, to ensure fitment and function without a bunch of work.
 
Please try the SCT frame. I like the looks but they claim the same grip angle as Glock. Me and the Glock grip angle don't get along well. I like the looks enough that I may buy one to try to get over my grip angle thing. Being serialized, I can sell it if it doesn't work out.

I did buy a PSA Dagger which is about half way between Glock and 1911 grip angle. I can shoot it OK so maybe there is hope for me after all.
 
I fixed the grip angle on my SCT frame, it is now part of my carry rotation.

I looked thru the parts box and have the parts to
put together a couple lowers so I decided to go
with the combat armory frames. Ordered today.
Will see if I like them better with Glock or S&W
slide assemblies.

Also found a .357 Sig barrel I might try with a 23
slide. I figure the standard 6 grains of Herco I use
for everything should give me a little over 1200
fps. And if I want to use 8.3 grains as listed in
the Alliant manual it ought to go around 1400 fps
because my powder coated 124 grainers tend to
run 35 to 60 feet per second faster than jacketed
in everything I run them in regardless of make or
barrel length. I guess the poly is slicker.

Powder coated bullets?
You should get involved in motorsports!

All of this kinda stuff is done to high end top cars on a road racing grid. Probably only a handful of guys do it extensively with the whole car -- Cryogenic and hardened internal pieces to drive train along with certain coatings and clearances of gear sets, teeth, suspension components and bushings. Along with perfecting all alignments, corner weights, weight ballast placements, and ride heights. Quite a time consuming process testing stuff out (and expensive). I have used a fish scale and string to pull a car on falt aluminum ramps and corner weight scales just to check the rolling resistance of the car after trying different things. Easier to pull is better. In the end, it puts you at the front and yields a beautifully handing car that will get you about 3-5 seconds over an entire sprint race in a very tight and competitive race class. That can mean winning by a few hundred feet. But, it ain't for the weak of heart and requires extreme amounts of time and testing in the shop.

You can also do this to mountain bikes and get very good results too. It's a lot easier. Clearancing and going through the bike with lubes and tightening everything perfectly can get you climbing a few ledges higher on each of the steeper climbs on a trail. My informal survey says it increases the climbing ease about 20-30% depending on the quality of your bike. You feel it immediately on a trail you ride regularly if it has hard and steep climbs. I imagine it would work with road bikes too, but I don't have one.
 
I use Eastwood products. Up until last year my coat was
their Ford light blue (valve cover blue). The wife complained
when I tracked the dust in the house so I switched to the
Hard coat semi-gloss clear. I know it still gets tracked in
but now you can't see any color. It still works the same for
me and I quit getting yelled at. And for the record, I cast,
coat and then size.
 
Can anyone confirm if the Glock 19 and Glock 17 magwells fit the SCT frames?
 
I got an SCT 19 frame with a short grip and built it. It works well and the only thing I would like is a grip extension for it which is not a magwell.
 
My one (so far) SCT frame build. It's an SCT-17. Of course, I've posted it in other threads. :)

No you can't . I found out when I built my P-80 that the barrels are different ont he G-19 and G-17. I assumed that the only difference was the barrel length.
 
I'm sure that the Strike Industries Strike 80 magwell will fit the SCT frame as the SCT frame is just a serialized version of the Strike 80.

I don't have a SCT frame otherwise I would verify this.

This is true with the Gen 1-4 barrels as the G17 barrels have longer locking lugs. Glock changed the G17 lugs to the same size as the G19 barrel lugs with the Gen 5 pistols. So one could easily put a Gen 5 G17 barrel into a G19 slide. You can also run a complete Gen 5 G17 slide on any G19 frame. It is highly recommended that you do use the Lone Wolf adaptor plate though.
