Riding public land and this little fella was sitting in the road.
Couldnt be more then a month or 2 I think.
No rings on plates and plates not even touching yet.
Very poor survival rate 1st 5 years. EVERYBODY eats them and there is metric shit ton of coyotes out here :(
Put him back in the grass and off the road.

There is a well established population of Gopher tortoise on this WMA. Last year I counted more than a dozen burrows just from the road.
 
Southern Georgia.
Supposedly they found a small group of spotted Turtles out here too.
Ive never seen 1 wild though.
Couple different box turtles around. Ive found Eastern and Florida in my drive. Plus aquatics. Had a softshell I thought was a lost hubcap few years back.
Even have had Alligator Snappers walk across the yard. Small 1s, maybe 20lbs

We are 60" under for the year on rainfall 😞
Talking 6 to 8 feet low in lakes and ponds
