These types of pistols have been around for a while and there are some newer variations that I find interesting. Since I am a somewhat fan of Springfield I’m sharing their latest entry into this genre. The call it the Heatseeker. Which coincidentally is what I call my penis.
I am not a pistol hunter. Never been interested. However, I’m seeing some other interesting possibilities for this form factor. Put a sturdy folding A3 Tactical (my fav) brace on it, some nice glass and a can. Also a good quality bipod. The pistol is chambered in 308 and I suspect SA will offer other calibers at some point in the future. Mix all that together and you have a grab and go backpack gun for shooting with great precision - at a considerable distance. Even with the short barrel, ringing steel at 300 yards should not be difficult for the modestly skilled. Generally, 308 is flat out to 300 yards with an inexpensive rifle and factory ammo. Some velocity is going to be lost due to the short barrel on the Heatseeker, but that’s OK for the type of duty this gun will see.
In an urban setting, I can imagine this firearm gathering some interest with special teams/SWAT.
