I'm sure that SCOTUS will eventually knock this down, but when and how long before other States and Municipalities jump on this bandwagon to make it harder or impossible to buy firearms?

Here in Colorado, I will soon need Permission, a permit and training to purchase many firearms that are i have a Right to own. With this ruling, I expect my State government to try to make it even harder for me to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights.

So you can "bear" arms, but you can't buy one or even make one, eh? Colorado sure has changed (for the worse). Sad. Beautiful state.

I'm not so sure.
I don't doubt that the waiting period will eventually be deemed Constitutional, I just think
/hope this particular ruling won't stand.
They're saying that since purchasing firearms is not mentioned in the plain text of the 2nd Amendment, the "Purchase" of a firearm is not a Constitutional right.

Government: Sure, you have the right to bear arms, we just won't let you buy them lol.

That's like saying, "Sure... you have a Right to Free Speech. But you don't have a right to use your voice, amplify it, record it, or transcribe it to paper in any fashion."

One of the reasons the "Gunshine State" is not one of the "best" 2A states. :(

Right. That's why I don't think it will fly with SCOTUS.

Waiting periods have stood for many other reasons,
so i can't understand the stupidity in this decision.

States can pretty much get Waiting periods past the courts on basically "Because we say so".
This is some activist Judges seeing if they can slip one past us, because if it stands, as is, States can just ban the purchase of firearms.

I would argue it is ONE of the best. Definitely, it is. There is no perfect state. Not even Texas. Texas is ironically much worse than Florida.

One of the reasons I'll keep my concealed carry LICENSE (not a "permit") is that there's no waiting period for purchasing a firearm. We have so-called "constitutional carry" now, but I'll keep the license for no waiting period and for reciprocity with other states.

"Gun-free zone" signs do not carry the weight of law here. That's a pretty big deal for me. Texas is a minefield of "30.06" signs that DO carry the weight of law.

No duty to inform at a traffic stop.

Compared to most other states, it's better.

It's because of all this, on top of pricing, availability, etc... I prefer to either mfg my own, or go through private sale. I find that more often than not, you can get much better pricing through PS, and/or a much better product by building your own. When I purchased that G44 I recently posted about, that was my first time buying from an actual gun store in years. And that was only because I couldn't find one through PS.

I see yall brought up the whole waiting period ordeal.. Is that a state by state thing? There is no waiting period here that I know of. When my G44 came in, the LGS called me and let me know it was there. I picked it up within a few hours after getting off work.

Yes. Waiting periods are a state / local thing. Of course, they're unconstitutional.

Oh I'm not debating you, my Gunshine brother. 🌅 It is just that when the gun orgs make their "Best 2A State" lists, FL is down a ways if but for the wait period. I too, get the CWL to avoid the wait.

And since the "no open carry" law was struck down, I've thought about open carrying lately, but not blatantly--OWB under a T-shirt kind of thing. Which actually would be considered "concealed" and "accidental" showing of a concealed weapon was always acceptable within the law.
