Anniversary dinner tonight.

We always go to a place that is somewhat more upscale than one would expect for our small town. Owned by two brothers, Evan operates Vangeli's Bistro, our venue tonight. His brother Spiro runs Dimas Bros. Cafe which serves breakfast and lunch. Both are skilled chefs and everything we have had at both locations has been great. The menu changes daily depending on what Evan finds when shopping for the day.

And we always get the same dessert because of its wonderful simplicity and of course it tastes great.
Bananas Brulee.
Bananas are soaked in rum overnight and served spread with peanut butter sauce, caramel drizzle, and whipped cream. A scoop of vanilla ice cream and a wafer cookie for presentation.

Edit:
Added Foodie Pics.
I want to emphasize that this is not like Longhorn or Applebee's. These are premium cuts of meat cooked to perfection by a trained chef and not some dude that 2 weeks before was working at Waffle House. All of it is fresh ingredients bought daily for that day's menu. And Evan knows what he's doing in the kitchen. It's a bit pricey, but you can't take the wife to Applebee's for the anniversary when this place exists. Dinner for two was $110 before the tip.
If you decide to go, make reservations on their webpage.

I had the bone-in porkchop. 1" Thick, tender, and juicy. All of it was beyond delicious. Damn near licked the plate.

Wife got the NY Strip. Medium rare. They pile on the mushrooms. Also delish.

Website said to inform your server if it is your birthday or anniversary.
I did, and the dessert was on the house.
The perfect sweet treat ending to a perfect meal.

Both places are worth a visit if you're in the area.

Menus just to make @Bobster hungry. ;)

6&6's for ever...

Saving this for next time I get to my brother’s and sister’s in law lake house on Lake Keowee.

Ditto. Married at 35 also. 20 years this past January.

I'm also a late bloomer... didn't get married until I was 35. Going on 27 years
I’m on my second rodeo. Married again at 43, going on 32 years now. If I had only known way back then what I learned 20 years later I could have saved myself a lot of trouble.

Post #1 updated with more pics.

Congrats? on the anniversary! :) Bunch of late incarcerated here. ;) I was 39. I envy those of you on your second (etc) marriage and I'll leave it at that... 😐
