New Blog Article! An open letter to fellow Patriots: Build another gun! Now!

You can still do 80%, just not Glock -- go for a P320, 1911 or AR. The US Patriot Armory sale on the 320 MUP w/ LPK is a pretty good deal. Or get a set of 4 MUPs at $70 each.
I thought about the 320MUP for a while, dont regret it now with all the neglagent discharge issues. Currious if those are persisting in the PMF realm as much as the factory ones?

Here’s one more vender with 80% frames

There is also bridge frames if you dare
purchased from this store previously. great selection and delivery! hope to return shopping again.

It's bullshit spread by bullshitters. Professional and amateur. Build a Sig or buy one without fear.

If you can swing it, a good approach would be buy a P320 and study it before you engage in DIY MUPpetry. Put a thousand rounds thru the factory gun. You'll have a feel for how the P320 operating system works and something to compare your DIY work to.

If you are a decent marksman, disciplined pistol shooter, and follow all the recommended maintenance the P320 and its derivatives will never let you down or misfire. Never. Not one court case has presented evidence - even by expert testimony - that this gun is defective. Not one. Sig settled a few because it's cheaper than paying lawyers. This issue is the biggest film-flam in gun history.

The status quo said Glock's were an unsafe piece of shit when they first came out. Plastic guns were a fad. Some things never change.

If you drill down into a lot of the comments on the interwebs about the Sig you'll discover most of them dont know WTF they are talking about and don't even own a Sig. Never shot one. Or they are self-proclaimed gunsmiths or "experts" on YouBoob who have very little actual training or experience. Hucksters making a living off clicks.

My philosophy on this issue is simple: Don't like Sigs? No problem. Don't buy one and STFU.

I totally agree about the haters and nonsensical gootoob babblers. They should just STFU! 😠

So we know how wood, brass, iron and steel age, even after centuries of use and/or storage. But how will plastic, aluminum and MIM parts age? What will a Glock or a Sig look like in 100 years?

This Chinese drill sat in a case for probably 5 years between uses and this is what I found after pulling it out the last time. Drill works fine and fortunately, the back "grip" texture material flaked off easily. I opened it to blow the grip powder out of the insides.

What if you opened up that pristine Gen1 Glock tupperware and found something similar? :D

Soft plastics will deteriorate like your drill. Hard plastics will get brittle and discolor. UV light accelerates decomposition of most plastics.

MIM... depends on the metal used. The advantage of MIM is that it can utilize a wide range of metals and also certain metals and alloys that were considered too hard for traditional machine tooling. Modem MIM parts are now achieving 90-95% of the density of forged parts.

Haters gotta hate, Siggers gotta Sig 🤣
All the Sig bashing in the media has me wanting to buy the 4 pack of MUPs from US Patriot.
On the other hand I don't NEED even one 320, it's just the principal of the thing.
I'd also need the jig which Bongo listed a source for at least once, and which has slipped out of my memory bank. My brain is an old style magnetic drum for those who know what that means....

Speaking of US Patriot Armory, this is the year (between late September and early Summer 2026) I will get my 1911 kits done. I expect to be asking lots of questons in the 1911 section. I will also try to remember to take pictures.

The knowledge is here. Avail yourself of it. (y)

About 1911s!
Someone said to buy a factory one to learn the platform before attempting to build one.
I bought three because 'Merica!

Shultz would only know something about a 1911 if he was on the front lines 🤣
I need to add Hogan's Heros onto my TV watch list.

That is something we need to rectify.
A 1911 is right up there with baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet as far as America is concerned. 🫔
Set them P80's aside and build you a 45 son! šŸ˜Ž

Good advice.

Hogan's Hero's was always a favorite when I was a kid.

Fun Fact #1
Shultz's rifle on the show was a US Krag. I guess the producers figured no one would notice.

Fun Fact #2
Most of the major German actors on the show were actually Jews. Klink, Shultz, Hotstetler, Burkalter. Probably more.

Fun Fact #3
The drum solo at the beginning of the theme song was performed by Bob Crane. He got a royalty every time it played.

Ok Boss!

I have parts incoming for a PF45, aiming to make it a lightweight 10mm hiking/trail running gun. I was taking a FiveseveN because it is so light even with 21 rounds on board but I don't have confidence in that thing stopping anything bigger than a squirrel.
Tim Sunels, the owner of Buffalo Bore, highly recommend 45 ACP +P over 10MM for brown bear primarily due to it's 27% larger surface area, or circumference, which makes a larger wound channel. He stated 45ACP +P hardcast is enough to pass through two shoulders on a brown bear.
Personally, I think it's easier to shoot, which would help with follow up shots.

If you're not going to use hardcast, then I don't know if this would change Tim's opinion on the matter.

Maybe if you are hunting bear with a pistol. Which nobody with a brain does.

Most backwoods hunters and guides carry a bear gun as a defensive weapon. A bear never stops and turns sideways so you can put a couple of rounds thru his shoulder. I never saw a single hunter, hunting guide, or bush pilot carrying a 45 as a bear gun. Always a big bore wheel gun (454 Casull, 45 Colt, 460 Rowland, S&W 500) and more recently a Glock 20 - 10mm.

This is the kind of nonsense people who have never been within 1000 yards of a bear repeat on the interwebs. Unless a zoo counts.

Ballistic tests on this topic indicate there is little difference between the standard pressure and the +P rounds. In 45's, It's about 10%. Given their higher velocity, one would expect more penetration from the +P rounds. Not true.

Federal says +P defensive hollow points are actually less likely to overpenetrate. The faster velocity of the +P rounds makes the round ā€œopen upā€ quicker inside the target, bringing it to a halt in about the same space as a normal pressure round.

It's true not all hard casts are hollow points. So the solid hardcast +p is likely to penetrate more. That still doesn't guanrantee better or more effective. As with all hunting or defense, it's about shot placement.

When you piss off or surprise a bear who becomes aggressive and you have to draw and fire, you have a few seconds to drop him. Maybe you get two shots off before it shreds you. If you hit something vital he may stop. Rounds often deflect and bounce off a bears skull. Try running backwards under duress and putting a round up a charging bears snout sometime. You can get lucky and he pauses to stand up on his hind legs as part of the "I'm about to kill you" posturing angry bears often do.

Shoot a large bear with any 45 ACP or +P and you better be a nationally ranked marksman or luckiest son of a bitch on the planet.

Sadly, I don't think there's another we can (by Oregon law) build today. I CAN OTOH, assemble an AR on a registered lower. Hmmmmm..... thoughts stirring.

Though I wanted to build a 320 clone, my thoughts on striker-fired pistols has changed that. So maybe I'll go to the LGS and buy something later on, to make up for it. heeharhee

This is in regards to people carrying pistols in the woods for protection, which you yourself admitted that guides do right after you said it was dumb.
Thanks for your input, but I'll take the word of a hunter who has killed thousands of big game to include brown bears.
Again, this conversation revolves around using hardcast.
