Action Pistol "practice" 041126.
Scott, the guy running AP on 4th Saturdays, wanted to have a "practice" on 2nd Saturdays since the "Special Use" range was open on those days. OK'ed by the club Board Members, this was the first meeting. The OK-ing involved drawing from holsters and shooting steel, two activities normally banned on the other ranges. As usually 50-75% of us are RSOs, safety is not a concern. The range is also used for new member qualification and for Hunter Safety as well as Defensive Carbine on other days.
Eight of the usual sixteen+ of us showed, and Scott had a couple stages in mind. First was a "plate rack" with timer used. The tarp is to help round up cases as the club president had a complaint about that.

Then we had a seated shoot to simulate sitting in a car. Not quite clear in the pic is the seated "driver" in front of the RSO. Some would "stop" and use both hands to shoot left out the window. I chose to switch the gun to my left hand only and keep my right hand on the "steering wheel", drive-by style.
Tito (not his real name) simulated about an 8" steering wheel before picking up his gun. I'm like "Is that a chrome chain steering wheel?" and he's like "Yes, it's my lowrider!" which was good a few laughs.
Then we moved the table 90° and practiced shooting out the right "window".

Last stage we got prone and shot at plates just above ground level. To simulate firing under a vehicle perhaps? I did pretty good at this.

These stages were just "practice" to see how certain stages would flow during the usual Action Pistol which will have at least double the participants. It helps to reinforce the need and desire to have such "competitions" at the range as some of the club elders are not particularly fond of the activities. (you might even call them "fudds"
