It's the apotheosis of the Managerial State. The point is that the "experts" deserve to run your life in principle, not that anybody seriously expects such madness do "do what it says on the tin" !
What's sad and frightening is that MOST people PREFER this. They are lazy and prefer to have others TELL them what to do. This way they can shirk any responsibility or accountability for their lot in life. If any misfortune befalls them, they can instantly claim the status of "victim." Afterall... "I did what they told me to do!"

Well... I wasn't thinking of criminal activity. I'm talking about normal law-abiding people with normal lives.... They prefer to be told what to do... for the reasons I outlined.

Yes, I know. But again... the context of my statement was ordinary people... the broad public... in terms of how they conduct their ordinary daily lives. Not perpetrators of heinous crimes.

Yep. That was my attitude / position during the covid shutdowns. I was told to shut down my business. My answer: Come get me.
They didn't come... as I suspected they wouldn't.
Same with all the other restrictions. The park where we walked our dog was taped off with signs posted. Here's how we handled that:
The hilarious part was when people gathered OUTSIDE the tape to yell at us that we weren't supposed to be in the park. Think about that for a sec. I wish I was making that up.

I was in a state that had one of the longest and most vicious lockdowns in the country, if not the world. I was reading Machiavelli and the Machiavellian school of political science at the time. My paradigm about how political power is wielded in the real world was crushed into dust and rebuilt again.
