Something new. This is a good choice for a PCC or and AR. Maybe a sub gun. Short-medium range scope.

The ACOG is showing its age. This is some really nice pro-quality glass packed into a small package. The option of add a red dot for up close and personal engagement is a plus.

I am going to take a serious look at this.

I went to the webpage and was baffled that there was no picture of the reticle in the slider at the top. I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled down to FINALLY find the reticle. But I'm confused... is it illuminated or not? Who the fuck wrote the ad copy on this thing? They did a terrible job. The copy says the crosshairs are non-illuminated. But the graphic of the reticle shows the center part in red. Red would seem to imply it's illuminated.

So it IS illuminated:

I'm a bit surprised it's a 2nd focal plane at this price point with variable magnification for defensive (or hunting) use. Makes for difficult holdovers or measurements / calculations as the reticle subtensions will be different depending on the magnification.

But it does look like a nice piece.

It's SFP so the reticle stays the same size regardless of magnification. EOtech has used this 'crucifix' reticle on other optics. The red part only - is illuminated.

EOtech provides a cheat sheet for 3x and 9x but it's probably best to use a ballistic calculator for your rifle, caliber, whatever distance you zeroed. As long as you stick to the same ammo, shooting after the scope is dialed in is intuitive. Easy to reliably pick off zombies at 200 yards.

Like the ACOG, you keep both eyes open and the stated eye relief is forgiving. It's about the same dimensions as the ACOG. I see this more as a tactical scope. Effective at 200 yards or less. Long range, hunting, competition... I'd go with something else.

I'd probably go with the model that adds the EOtech red dot. For those intimate moments under 50 yards.

Nothing cheap about this optic. EOtech is combat proven gear. On par with Trijicon. Rugged and dependable. Seems perfect for an AR or PCC in an urban scenario. Or like me you have a home in the middle of some modest acreage.

Backcountry... not so much. The MSRP is a bit north of $1400 with the red dot. About $1000 without. Street price might be a couple hundred less. Not out of sight for premium glass.

Yes. I'm familiar. But as a result, the subtension values change with magnfication. There are pros and cons to both types.

I agree.

Not cheap. But not as pricey as the Trijicons. A bit more "affordable."

Shit, the Aimpoint T2 I just got retails for about $1000. Though even with my veteran's discount at $827, a pricey non-magnified red dot for my PS90. Hard to justify, but somehow in my mind, I did! ;)

Not out of sight... (pun intended).... but still a good value. I would definitely give it a look. Maybe for my son's new AR (which is in my custody while he's in Commiefornia).
