PSA Dagger 9mm Pistol With C-1 RMR Compensated Slide $380 LINK "New" item. I'd wait for it to go on sale. ;)
OR get a Dagger frame for $50 (on sale) and an AIM ported barrel/slide for $170 plus mag, S/H, tax and fees.
Probably $275 total for a ported G19ish... :)

I question the effectiveness of the longer slide with hole in the end functioning like a comp in this Dagger slide. Others like it too.

A comp is short for 'complicated'. :) My unscientific opinion is very little gas comes out the hole in the top of the slide.

Everybody in Gun World is doing this and I think it's mostly marketing bullshit.

But it looks cool! ;)

BTW: You lose some velocity with ported barrels. Depends on the ammo but I've read it can be 20 or up to 60 fps. I never bothered to chrono this because so few handguns - until recently - sported a comp.

I read one comment on this topic on another forum that was interesting. The guy was advocating for a comp and said that he now shoots +p to make up for the loss of velocity. I question the logic. I asked if his accuracy improved. He admitted that he thinks it does but he wasn't sure. In other words, no.

I would bet two cheeseburgers that if you take two identical handguns... one with a comp and the other not ... nobody would shoot better with the comp gun. Zero improvement.

I would agree. Though, I think theoretically, the idea is that during rapid fire, less muzzle flip = better accuracy (with rapid fire). Theoretically.

I think porting/comps had some purpose on big bore handguns and long guns. Short barrel handguns… 9mm especially I call bullshit.

I’d concede the tiny improvement in a rapid fire scenario if you are already at the expert level. Which would be among the top pistol shooters on the planet.

Most pistol shooters don’t have the form to stay on target rapid fire. Muzzle flip is only one factor. Grip strength and trigger discipline are important and the type of ammo also matters.

There’s a similar reason why there are so few scratch golfers and it ain’t the clubs or lack of design gimmicks in clubs.

I got an ad recently for fancy, expensive golf tees that say it takes 3-5 strokes off your game. Right. And I have a goose that lays golden eggs. The only thing that takes any strokes off your game is correcting your swing.
