American Preppers Association elects new chairperson

LOL! Rachel Dratch was great on SNL.

I sort of get the prepping thing... up to a point. Admittedly, I am woefully "unprepared" by "prepper" standards. Well, except maybe a pretty good inventory of ammo. But not much beyond that.

No way I'd ever "bug out." That part makes no sense whatsoever to me. You will get as far as 1 tank of gas will take you, and then.... you're VERY EXPOSED with the much more limited supplies that you can carry with you on foot.

I'd rather "bug in." And then let the chips fall where they may. Come get me. But I'm takin' some of ya with me! :) But I'll be in familiar territory with a roof over my head and not just the amount of supplies I can carry with me (out there).

I take a different tack on prepping. You need to face the music and accept that are going to die if an actual doomsday event occurs. It's a question of how long that takes. You'd be better off buying a bong and a pound of weed and go out laughing vs. buying razor wire. Fortifications are a monument to mans stupidity, said General Patton.

Stay put vs. so-called bug-out? Depends on the situation. If you dig in, you will eventually be compromised. I'd stay put as long as I could then bug out. I'm comfortable enough with survival methods to go guerrilla for a while. But you can only do that so long. For me, the bug-out is a short term thing. The way I'm set up now is I have a home on difficult terrain and high ground. I can defend it in all directions for a good while. And pick off marauders before they get too close. There's no place for them to hide or take cover within 75 yards. A platoon would take heavy losses storming my home. You can bet they wouldn't be trained infantry. đź’€ The proverbial Picketts Charge.

The biggest problem with bugging out is if you have family in tow. If that's the case, forget it.
